Newport News, Va. -
Fordham University senior swimmer Courtney Collyer (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week, it was announced by the league office today. It is Collyer's third career weekly accolades.
Collyer, the three-time defending Atlantic 10 champion in the 200 butterfly, could not have scripted the start to her senior campaign better, winning all seven events she participated in this weekend. She began the week winning the 200 individual medley (2:08.50) and 200 butterfly (2:05.65) at Marist, as well as being a part of the winning 400 medley relay (3:54.48). Fordham won the meet over Marist, 144-99.
Just two days later, Collyer was right back in action at the 2011 Husky Invitational, hosted by Connecticut. She won the 100 (56.62) and 200 (2:03.45) butterfly, as well as 400 individual medley (4:30.33). The senior then ended the weekend by anchoring the 200 freestyle relay team to a win in 1:38.33. Overall, Collyer posted the Rams' top times in both butterfly and both individual medley events.
Collyer and the rest of the Fordham swimming & diving teams will next be in action on Friday, October 28th, when the Rams host Fairfield University at the Messmore Aquatic Center, beginning at 5:00 PM.
