In a tournament that was reduced to just two rounds due to inclement weather on Friday, the Fordham men's golf team finished in 13th place, out of 14 teams, at the MacDonald Cup, hosted by Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. The Rams posted a two-round-team-score of 598 after putting up scores of 302 and 296. Yale won the team title with an overall score of 565.
In the individual competition, Peter Williamson of Dartmouth won with a five-under-par score of 136. Jason Del Rosso was the high scorer for Fordham, as he posted a combined 149 with rounds of 76 and 73 on the Par-70 course. His score put him in a tie for 37th place. Connor Monaghan also came in with an identical 149 after scores of 77 and 72.
Two Fordham golfers posted scores of 150, which put them in a tie for 47th position. Junior Brody Nieporte had rounds of 76 and 74. Freshman, Jeff Hogan marked rounds of 73 and 77. Also , competing in his first collegiate tournament, Brian Engstrom put up scores of 76 and 77, which put him 13th over par and helped him finish in a tie for 59th place. Finally, team captain, Devon O'Rourke, finished with a 156, after rounds of 77 and 79. He was in a tie for 70th.
The Fordham men's golf team returns to action on Saturday, October 15, when they compete in the Classic at Shelter Harbor, from the Shelter Harbor Golf Club in Charlestown, Rhode Island. The two-day event concludes on Sunday, the 16th.
