Men's Golf in 7th Place out of 15 Teams after 1st round of Classic at Shelter Harbor

Charlestown, R.I. - The Fordham men's golf team sits in 7th place, out of 15 teams, after one round of the Classic at Shelter Harbor from the Shelter Harbor Country Club in Charlestown, Rhode Island. The par 71 course saw the Fordham team shoot a combined score of 309, which puts them four points behind Hartford for sixth place. The team in the lead is Dartmouth College, at 291.

Among individuals, the Rams had six golfers competing. Del Rosso's five-over-par 76, put him in a tie for 23rd After him, freshman Jeff Hogan recorded a 77, which put him in a tie for 27th. Brody Nieporte and Devon O'Rouke recorded identical 78s, which sat them in 38th position. The final qualifier for the team competition for Fordham was Brian Engstrom, who posted a score of 84, good for 72nd place. The final Rams' golfer was Ben Alcorn who shot a 78.

The second and final round of the tournament gets underway on Sunday morning. The team will see if they can move up in the standings.
