Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham men's soccer team continues its five-game homestand on Sunday, October 16 when the Rhode Island Rams visit Jack Coffey Field for a 1:00 PM game. Fordham opened the home games with a 1-0 loss to Massachusetts on Friday. With the loss, the Rams are 6-5-1 overall and 2-1 in Atlantic 10 conference play. URI is 4-7-1 with a 1-1-1 league record.

Fordham enters the game having won three of its last four contests including a 1-0 upset at #23 Xavier on October 7. Most recently, the Rams dropped a 1-0 decision to UMass on Friday night. Fellow seniors Matt Courtenay and Ryan Meara have made news this week as Courtenay, who scored both goals in the wins over the Musketeers and Dayton, was named A-10 Co-Player of the Week. Not to be outdone, Meara set Fordham's all-time shutout mark against Xavier and added to it with the 1-0 blanking of the Flyers.

The two A-10 Rams met in Kingston, Rhode Island in 2010 and in that game, current Rhode Island players, Joey Haught and Matt Ribbens, hooked up for the game's only goal in a 1-0 URI triumph. In that game, Phil Ferrantello had two shots on goal and Meara made four saves.

Right now Fordham is 2-1 in A-10 play, which puts them in a tie for third with George Washington. There is a tie at the top of the league standings as both La Salle and Charlotte have identical 2-0-1 conference marks.

Fordham is currently 0-1 on its five-game, A-10 homestand. The games at Jack Coffey Field continue for the Rams on Friday, October 21 when they welcome fellow Jesuit school, Saint Louis University to the Bronx. The game with the Billikens is slated for 7:00 PM.
