First Round Scores

The Fordham golf team headed up to New Haven, Connecticut to compete in the MacDonald Cup, and the squad sits in 13th place, out of 14 teams after the first round of play. The competition, hosted by Yale University, is taking place at the Yale University Golf Course (which is a par-70 course). The host Bulldogs lead the team competition at even par, 280. The Rams shot a 302, 22 strokes off the lead.
Freshman golfer, Jeff Hogan, who posted a pair of even-par 72s in his first collegiate action at Cornell last week, paced the Rams for the second week in a row. He shot an opening round 73 (+3) and currently sits in a tie for 22nd place.
After Hogan, three other Fordham linksmen posted identical 76 scores in the opening 18. Brody Nieporte , Jason Del Rosso and Brian Engstrom all sit in 45th place. For Engstrom, this is his college debut. Team captain, Devon O'Rourke and Connor Monaghan posted identical scores of 77, and both are in a tie for 57th position. The overall leader among individual golfers is Dartmouth's Peter Williamson. He shot a five-under-par 65. The second round was also played on Friday.
The Fordham golfers return to the Yale University Golf Course for the third and final round of competition on Sunday, October 2. The action gets underway at 8:00 A.M.
