Arat & Hultman Named to 2010 ACWPC Men's Water Polo All-American Team

Jan. 31, 2011

Bronx, N.Y. - The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches announced the 2010 Men's Water Polo All-American Teams this past weekend, and for the second consecutive year, Fordham is represented on the ACWPC All-American Team. Graduate student Ali Arat (Istanbul, Turkey/Sisli Terakki Secondary) and senior Ryan Hultman (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar) were both listed as ACWPC Honorable Mention All-Americans.

Arat, who received Honorable Mention All-American honors last season, was a First Team All-North selection for the second straight season in 2010, as well as a Second Team All-East pick. He was among not only the Rams' top scorers all season long, but challenged for the NCAA goal scoring title. In 32 games this season, he tallied a team-high 91 goals and 11 assists for a team-best 102 points, while adding 40 steals, good for second on the team, and 14 blocks. The 91 goals ranks as one of the top scoring seasons in Fordham school history, trailing only Ned Kelly's mark of 112 in 1971.

Ryan Hultman

Nationally, Arat was second in the nation in goals and third in points. He also earned CWPA Northern Division Offensive Player of the Week once this season.

Hultman receives Honorable Mention All-American honors after earning Second Team All-North accolades for the second straight season. He had another solid campaign, eclipsing the 30-goal plateau for the fourth straight season. He netted 32 goals, good for third on the team, to go with 18 assists for 50 points. It was the second time that Hultman has reached the 50-point plateau in his career. He also posted a career-high 42 steals, which tied for 11th nationally.

Hultman also earned CWPA Northern Division Offensive Player of the Week once this season.
