Newport News, Va. -
Fordham University sophomore swimmer Brienne Ryan (New Windsor, N.Y./Cornwall) was named Atlantic 10 Women's Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week for a league-best fourth time this season, it was announced by the league office today.
Ryan helped lead the Rams to victories over La Salle (160-74) and C.W. Post (121-57), winning four individual events and two relays for the Rams.
Against C.W. Post, Ryan won both the 50 (24.44) and 100 (53.93) freestyle events, while combining with Courtney Collyer, Kelly Bunster and Kellie Lyver to win the 400 medley relay in a time of 3:54.81.
Just one day later versus La Salle, Ryan won the 50 freestyle in 24.19 seconds, as well as the 200 backstroke in a season-best time of 2:01.61. Ryan was also a part of the winning 400 medley relay team once again with Collyer, Bunster and Lyver, as the group won in a season-best time of 3:52.81. In addition to the win, Ryan's starting split of 54.93 in the 100 backstroke portion of the relay was good enough for an NCAA "B" qualifying time.
Ryan and the rest of the Fordham swimming & diving teams will next be in action on Saturday, February 5th, when the Rams host the University of Massachusetts, beginning at 1:00 PM in the Messmore Aquatic Center.
