Women's Swimming Returns to Action with Win over C.W. Post

Bronx, N.Y. - Following a week long training trip, the Fordham women's swimming & diving team returned to action at the Messmore Aquatic Center on Friday night, topping the C.W. Post Pioneers by a score of 121-57.

The Rams won 12 of 13 events on the evening, led by sophomore Brienne Ryan, junior Courtney Collyer and junior Elizabeth Dorger, as each won two events.

Ryan won both the 50 (24.44) and 100 (53.93) freestyle events, while Collyer took both the 200 butterfly (2:05.09) and 200 breaststroke (2:24.26) events. Ryan and Collyer also combined with Kelly Bunster and Kellie Lyver to win the 400 medley relay in a time of 3:54.81.

Dorger won both diving events, scoring 242.25 on the one-meter board and a season-best score of 273.45 in the three-meter board.

Other individual event winners included junior Alexandra Wessel in the 1000 freestyle (10:52.62), senior Megan McGorry in the 200 freestyle (1:54.66), senior Christina Cosentino in the 200 backstroke (2:09.60), and freshman Kara Field in the 500 freestyle (5:03.14 - season-best).

The final event win came in the 400 freestyle relay, as Alana Biagioli, Wessel, Lara Moseley, and Allie Alessi won the event in 3:41.15.

Fordham will be right back in action on Saturday, January 22nd, when the team host La Salle University for a meet, beginning at 1:00 PM in the Messmore Aquatic Center.
