Newport News, Va. -
Fordham University senior Kerri Gallagher (Belle Harbor, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) earned her second straight Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Performer of the Week honor, it was announced today by the league office.
In her three January meets, Gallagher has run extremely well, qualifying for the ECAC Championship in three different individual events. She began January by qualifying for the ECAC Championship in the mile run at the Metropolitan Coaches Invitational, bettering her season-best time by 20 seconds to 4:52.44. She was second overall in the mile run, but was the top collegiate finisher. Gallagher later helped the 4x400 relay take a fourth place finish in 4:01.66 at the same meet.
This past weekend, Gallagher qualified for the ECAC Championship in two more events, winning the 1,000 meter event at the NYU Gotham Cup in a qualifying time of 2:49.49, while just 24 hours later, Gallagher captured the 800 meters at the Yale Collegiate Invitational in a qualifying time of 2:12.20. She also helped the 4x400 relay team place third out of 18 teams in a season-best time of 3:59.22 at Yale.
Gallagher and the rest of the Fordham track & field teams will next be in action on Saturday, January 22nd, when they compete at the Princeton Relays in Princeton, New Jersey.
