Fordham University sophomore forward Doug Hanly (Westborough, Mass/Westborough) was named Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week, it was announced today by the conference. This is Hanly's first career Atlantic 10 weekly honor.
Hanly, who did not play as a freshman last season and is still eligible for the Rookie of the Week award in 2010, netted goals in both of Fordham's victories this week. He scored Fordham's first goal against Columbia on Wednesday in the waning seconds of the first half. Later in the week, he repeated the feat, scoring in the final minute of regulation versus Hofstra to seal a 3-1 win.
In six games this season, Hanly leads the Rams with three goals and six points.
Hanly and the rest of the Rams (3-3-0) will next be in action on Saturday, September 25th, when they take on Central Connecticut State at 7:00 PM in New Britain, Connecticut.
