Women's Tennis Continues Play at Quinnipiac Invitational

Hamden, Conn. - The Fordham University women's tennis team continued play at the Quinnipiac Invitational where Taylor Holt and Angelika Dabu led the Rams, with Holt advancing to the semifinals of the C flight and Dabu advancing to the consolation finals of the A flight.

Holt started play in the C flight with a win over Army's Audrey Hanson and then knocked off Lisanne Steinert of Quinnipiac, 6-4, 6-0, to advance to the semifinals which will be played on Sunday.

Dabu opened singles play with a 6-3, 7-6 (4) loss to Adrienne Markison of Quinnipiac before rebounding to win her first consolation match against Fairfield's Carolina Koladzyn, 8-4. She then upended UConn's Emily Herb, 9-7, to advance to the consolation finals where she fell to Jen Learmonth of Connecticut, 8-5.

Hanna Fritzinger also competed in the A flight singles, falling to Rhode Island's Pam Emery, 6-1, 6-3, in the first round but rebounding to defeat Rocio Portela Berrios of Seton Hall, 8-2, in the consolation round. Fritzinger then was eliminated by Learmonth, 8-4.

In the B flight, Bethany Boyle opened play by defeating Army's Holly Pappafotis, 2-6, 7-5, 10-6, before falling to Julie Labarthe of Quinnipiac, 6-0, 6-2.

Also in the B flight, Sarah Tremaine fell to Quinnipiac's Sarah Viebrock, 7-5, 6-2, in the first round and the lost to Elizabeth Verow of Seton Hall in the consolation round, 8-5.

In C flight action, Monika Chao defeated Seton Hall's Kristin Legenza, 6-0, 6-2, in the first round before losing to Carly Riney from Army, 6-1, 6-2.

In the D flight, Jennifer Mullen lost to Army's Morgen Kiser, 6-2, 6-1, before shutting out Rhode Island's Jodie Greenlaw, 9-0, in the consolation round. She then fell to Lauren Rothermich from Connecticut, 8-5.

The Rams will wrap up play at the Quinnipiac Invitational on Sunday.
