Hamden, Conn. - The Fordham women's tennis team opened play at the 2010 Quinnipiac Invitational where the Rams won two doubles matches on the day.

The first Fordham win came from the doubles pair of Bethany Boyle and Monika Chao who defeated Quinnipiac's Erin Suvar and Morgan Crystal, 8-4, in the B flight. The duo then fell to Audrey Hanson and Robie Verano from Army, 8-4, in the quarterfinals.

Elizabeth Verow and Jennifer Mullen fell to UConn's Marie Gargiulo and Lauren Rothermich, 8-1, in the first round of a B flight match but they came back to defeat Rhode Island's Brooke Hoover and Jenna Williams in the consolation quarterfinals, 8-4.

Other doubles pairs for Fordham included Taylor Holt and Sarah Tremaine, who fell in the first round of the A flight, 8-4, to Army's Holly Pappafotis and Carly Riney and Angelica Dabu and Hanna Fritzinger who were defeated by Quinnipiac's Juliet Labarthe and Sarah Viebrock, 8-3, in another A flight first round match. Dabu and Fritzinger then played in a consolation quarterfinals match, falling to UConn's Emily Herb and Jennifer Learmonth, 8-2.

Play will continue at the Quinnipiac Invitational on Saturday.
