Jason Caldwell Honored by College Football Performance Awards

Bronx, N.Y. - 2010 College Football Performers of the Week (Sept. 13, 2010).

Fordham University wide receiver Jason Caldwell was honored by the College Football Performance Awards as a national NCAA FCS wide receiver performer of the week it was announced today. He is the second Ram to be honored in the past two weeks, joining Patrick Murray who was named a national NCAA FCS punter performer of the week after the Bryant game.

In Fordham's 27-25 come from behind win over Rhode Island on Saturday night, Caldwell caught a game-high eleven passes for 140 yards and one touchdown. His final reception was a 44-yarder that set up what proved to be the winning score with just over two minutes remaining in the game.

On the year, Caldwell, who was a preseason All-America, has 20 receptions for 230 yards and one touchdown. Those numbers bring his career totals to 135 receptions for 1,963 yards and 16 touchdowns. He ranks fourth on the Fordham career receptions list, fifth on the all-time receiving yards list and tied for fifth in career receiving touchdowns. Caldwell also has eight career 100-yard receiving games.

Last year, Caldwell was named NCAA FCS Honorable Mention All-America by the College Sporting News as well as Second Team FCS All-America by The Sports Network and Third Team Associated Press FCS All-America.

The 2010 team captain turned in one of the most productive season for a Fordham wide receiver in 200, catching 79 passes for 1,252 yards and nine touchdowns. The 79 receptions and 1,252 receiving yards are both the second best single season total in school history while his nine touchdown catches ties him for third. Caldwell leads the Patriot League in receptions per game (7.2) and receiving yards/game (113.8). He finished second in the NCAA FCS in total receiving yards, third in receiving yards/game, tied for tenth in the in receptions/game and 27th in all-purpose yards/game.

The Rams will continue their 2010 schedule on Saturday, September 18th, as they travel into Manhattan to face the Columbia University Lions in the annual Liberty Cup game at 12:30 p.m.
