Golf Opens 2010 at the Colgate Invitational

Day One Results

Hamilton, N.Y. - The Fordham golf team opened its 2010 season on Saturday at the opening round of the Colgate Invitational, held at the Seven Oaks Golf Club in Hamilton, N.Y. After day one, the Rams are right in the mix in third place, just three strokes back of Bucknell for second.

Colgate leads the tournament with a team score of 286, good for two-under-par score (-2). That total is 16 shots ahead of second place Bucknell (302 - +14), and 19 in front of Fordham (305 - +17). Chasing Fordham, is Laval (306 - +18), Daemen (307 - +19), Ottawa (307 - +19), Niagara (309 - +21), LeMoyne (319 - +31), and Roberts Wesleyan (323 - +35).

Individually, Colgate's Will Delano and Josh Spellman shot rounds of 68 (-4) and 70 (-2), respectively to lead the field. Right on their heals is Fordham sophomore Jason Del Rosso and Daemen's Kyle Kapturowski, who both shot a one-under-par round of 71 on Saturday.

In addition to DelRosso, Fordham's Connor Monaghan and Devon O'Rourke shot matching rounds of 76 (+4), which is good for a tie for 13th overall. Nick Polvino is tied for 32nd with an 81 (+9), with Brody Nieporte (T38th - 82 - +10), Evan DeLuca (T46th - 84 - +12), Pat Herlihy (T49th - 85 - +13), and Brandon Nolan (54th - 91 - +19).

Play concludes at the Colgate Invitational on Sunday, beginning at 9:00 AM.
