Ryan Meara Earns USL Premier Development League All-Conference and All-League Honors

Aug. 3, 2010

TAMPA, Fla. - Officials from the United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League (USL/PDL) announced the 2010 All-League Team on Tuesday with Fordham's goalkeeper and 2010 captain Ryan Meara (Yonkers, N.Y./Fordham Prep) named as the PDL's All-League goalkeeper. Meara is one of 11 players selected out of 2,000 who have participated in the league's 67 teams this season.

The 2010 PDL All-League team was selected through a vote of team management.

The honor comes the day after Meara was named the All-Eastern Conference goalkeeper. Meara's team the Ironbound Express was one of the two teams who had multiple representatives on the 2010 team.

The Fordham junior will wait for the final award of the season, Goalkeeper of the Year, which will be presented at the annual banquet on Friday, Aug. 6. The finalists for Coach of the Year, Defender of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player will be announced on Wednesday, Aug. 4, with the awards also being presented at the Championship banquet.

Meara had an 8-2-2 record, with all eight wins as shutouts and 32 saves for Ironbound. He helped his team clinch a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Meara allowed only eight goals in 12 games played and was fourth in the league with a 0.66 goals against average. The Ironbound finished second in the Mid Atlantic Division.

The PDL/USL is the top amateur summer league. It is a national league that fields players from many different colleges.
