2010 College Sporting News NCAA FCS Preseason All-America Team

Fordham University senior tight end Stephen Skelton (El Paso, Tex./Burges) added another preseason honor to his resume when he was named First Team Preseason NCAA FCS All-America by The College Sporting News. Previously he was named 2010 First Team Preseason All-America by both The Sports Network and Phil Steele's College Football Preview as well as an Honorable Mention NCAA FCS Preseason All-American by Consensus Draft Services. Skelton was also listed among the Top Ten receivers in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) for the upcoming 2010 season by The Sports Network.
In addition to the All-America honors, Skelton was also named First Team Preseason All-Patriot League by Phil Steele's College Football Preview.
Skelton emerged as a pass-catching tight end in 2009, hauling in 63 passes from his brother John, who was selected in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL draft by the Arizona Cardinals, for 634 yards and six touchdowns. The 63 receptions were the most all-time for a Fordham tight end and the fifth best reception total in school history. Skelton had two 100-yard receiving games last fall, a ten-reception, career-high 138-yard game against Old Dominion on October 3rd and a career-high 13-catch, 102 yard contest against Holy Cross on October 31st. Skelton ranked fourth in the Patriot League in receptions per game (5.7), 31st in the NCAA FCS, and ninth in the conference in and 81st in the NCAA receiving yards per game (57.6)
Over his career, Skelton has 85 receptions for 870 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Rams open the 2010 season on Saturday, September 4th, as they travel to Smithfield, R.I., to face Bryant University at 3:00 p.m. The following week, September 11th, Fordham opens its home schedule by hosting the University of Rhode Island at 6:00 p.m. on Jack Coffey Field.
