Bronx, N.Y. -
Fordham University sophomore forward Annie Worden (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) has been marked as a "sophomore star to watch" in 2010 by TopDrawerSoccer.com, which compiled a list of the Atlantic 10's top six sophomore prospects for the upcoming year.
Worden was an Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team selection last season, leading the Rams with seven goals, three of which were game-winners, and 16 points. She was the first freshman to lead Fordham in scoring since 2003.
Most of Worden's damage was in conference play, as four goals and one assist came during the Rams' 11-game Atlantic 10 schedule, helping Fordham to a third place finish in the league and the team's fourth straight Atlantic 10 Championship berth. She then netted two goals in the Championship tournament, as Fordham made it to the Atlantic 10 semifinals for the fourth straight year.
Worden and the Fordham women's soccer team will open their 2010 campaign on Sunday, August 22nd at home against Seton Hall University.
Here's what TopDrawerSoccer.com had to say about Worden:
F Annie Worden, Fordham: She came in with the defined identity of a goal scorer and did not disappoint. Her three game-winning scores helped the team make a run in the conference where they finished third.
Worden is a player who was prepared for the physical level and did not shy away from it. She ended up with seven goals and 16 points to lead the team in both categories and establish herself as the "go-to" player of the future.
