STARKVILLE, Miss. - Fordham softball pitcher Jen Mineau (Schaghaticoke, N.Y./Hoosic Valley Central) was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Division I Player of the Week by officials from the NFCA on Tuesday, after tallying her second-straight 3-0, three shutout week.
The accolade comes a week after she was mentioned as a top performer of the week by the NFCA for going 3-0 with three more shutouts from April 19-25, and a day after she was named Atlantic 10 Co-Pitcher of the Week.
For the second consecutive week, Mineau posted a 0.00 ERA, allowing just eight hits, one double and one walk while strikeout 25 over 17 innings of work. She threw two complete game shutouts on the week and limited her opponents to a 0.140 batting average.
The Schaghticoke, N.Y., native used a 16 strikeout performance to help propel her to a seven-inning two-hitter versus Charlotte in one of her three wins on the week.
So far this season, Mineau was honored as a USA Softball Player of the Year Top 25 Finalist, earned five Atlantic 10 Pitcher/Co-Pitcher of the Week awards and was named ECAC Pitcher of the Week on April 20.
With one week left to play in the regular season, Mineau is 29-5 with 420 strikeouts, single-handedly breaking the Fordham team record for strikeouts in the season set by the 2007 Rams. As a team, Fordham has recorded 535 strikeouts, setting a new team record. She has an ERA of 0.65 in 226.2 innings pitched. The sophomore has won 14 complete game shutouts and has had a hand in 20 of the Rams' shut out victories overall, including two no-hitters and a season-opening perfect game.
Fordham is 42-8 overall and 14-2 in the Atlantic 10. Fordham has held opponents scoreless over 42-consecutive innings, dating back to the final inning of the second game against La Salle on April 18. Mineau earned the win in all six games.
The Rams have received votes in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 since March first. In the most recent edition of the poll, released Tuesday, Fordham received eight votes and sit just two spots out of the Top 25.
As a freshman, Mineau was named a Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week on March 17, 2009, after throwing two no-hitters in the same week.
