Camden, N.J. -
The Fordham University crew ventured down to Camden, New Jersey, on Saturday to compete in the ECAC Mid-Atlantic/New England Regional Championships on the Cooper River. The Rams placed sixth of 12 teams at the regatta with the varsity 8 placing fifth in the Grand Final.
The varsity 8 advanced to the Grand Final by placing second in its heat in a time of 6:52.70, just seven seconds behind Rhode Island but ahead of Navy, Colgate and George Washington.
In the Grand Final, the Rams placed fifth in 6:54.61, behind Bucknell, Navy, Rhode Island, and Rutgers but in front of Delaware.
Fordham also entered a shell in the Novice 8, Second Varsity 8 and Varsity 4.
The Novice 8 placed fourth in its heat in a time of 7:45.86, just four seconds behind Villanova but well ahead of Navy, which was good enough to advance to the Petite Final. In the Petite Final, the Rams placed third in 7:37.55, behind George Washington and Rutgers and in front of Navy.
The Second Varsity 8 placed sixth in its heat in a time of 7:26.73, behind Bucknell, George Washington, Rutgers and West Virginia, and advanced to the Petite Final. In the Petite Final, the Rams took third behind Delaware and West Virginia and ahead of Colgate and Duquesne.
The Varsity 4 took fourth in its heat in a time of 8:19.91, to advance to the Petite Final. The Rams placed behind Bucknell, West Virginia and Villanova, who was two seconds in front of Fordham, and in front of Rhode Island and West Virginia.
In the Varsity 4 Petite Final, the Rams placed sixth.
The Rams will next be in action on May 7th and 8th as they travel to Philadelphia to compete in the 2010 Dad Vail Championship.
