Varsity 4 Takes Fourth at USRowing Collegiate Championships

The Fordham rowing squad wrapped up its season at the 2010 USRowing Collegiate Championship on Mercer Lake in New Jersey this weekend where the top finish came from the Fordham varsity 4 A boat which placed fourth in the championship final.

The Rams entered two boats in the varsity 4 competition with the A boat starting things off with a second place finish in its heat in a time of 7:51.789, the third fastest time in the heats. The Rams were beaten to the line by the Duke A shell but finished in front of the Tulsa C, Loyola B, Tulsa A, Villanova A and the Fordham B boats.

The Fordham A boat then won its repechage in a time of 8:43.232, beating Villanova A, UMass A, Villanova B and Tulsa A to the line, to advance to the finals.

The Fordham B shell took fourth in its repechage in a time of 9:19.498, behind Loyola A, Tulsa B and Loyola B but ahead of Villanova C and Tulsa C.

In the varsity 4 finals, the Fordham A boat placed fourth in a time of 8:12.532. The Duke A shell won the race followed by Villanova A and Loyola A while the Duke B and Tulsa B boats crossed the line behind the Rams.
