Postgame Interviews
Fordham Head Coach Bridget Orchard
On Fordham’s first NCAA Regional victory:
“It feels great, I’m really excited and I’m really proud of the girls. They battled and fought and they came back and won the game.
On coming back from a 1-0 deficit to win:
“I was a little concerned because we weren’t playing our game at that time, we looked a little tight, we looked a little nervous -- we weren’t ourselves. I was a little nervous that we would give the game away so I was glad to see us come back.”
On what the coaches said to pitcher Jen Mineau during the close call in the fourth inning with bases loaded:
“With Jen, when batters get on, she gets better. We weren’t really concerned. When she loaded the bases we were hoping she would get the big strikeouts like she’s done all year. She showed that again tonight.”
On Jocelyn Dearborn’s game-tying home run in the fourth inning:
“It was huge, I kept saying saying on the bench once we tie it up we’ll be able to go ahead and everyone breathed a sigh of releif when she hit that out. We knew we could score runs, it was just the matter of breaking the ice of getting that one and she absolutely crushed it.”
On playing Oklahoma tomorrow:
“Hopefully we come out and we play our game, hopefully we got the jitters out today, we just got a little nervous coming into today. We just have to come out not to lose, come out and play to win and play Fordham softball. We’re going to play the way we know how to play.
