Postgame Notes: Fordham 2, Maryland 1 (NCAA Regionals)

  • The 2-1 victory over Maryland is the first NCAA win for a Fordham women's team. It is also the first time Fordham has won an NCAA postseason game since the Rams' football team defeated Northeastern in the 2002 NCAA I-AA playoffs.

  • Jocelyn Dearborn hit her 12th home run of the season to tie the game at 1-1. Dearborn has 39 RBI on the season and 130 RBI for her career. With 29 career home runs, Dearborn is tied for second on the all-time list with Allison Twarowski (2004-08).

  • Jen Mineau (33-7) finished the game with 11 strikeouts, swinging. For the season, Mineau has 482 strikeouts, 27 double-digit strikeout games and 27 complete games. For her career, Mineau has 655 strikeouts. Fordham's all-time career strike out leader is Sara Kinney (2003-07) with 680 K's.

  • Samantha Pellechio hit her eighth double of the season and second game-winning hit of the season. The junior hit the game-winning home run against Hofstra on April 20. Pellechio has 17 RBI this season.

  • Jamie LaBovick now leads the Rams in runs scored with 46. She ties Allison Twarowski for the No. 6 spot on the single-season record list for runs scored in a season. Twarowski had 46 runs in 2008. Twarwoski is also the Rams' all-time single-season runs leader with 58 runs scored in a season (2007).

  • Fordham has won eight one-run games this season, including two in the postseason with the 2-1 victory over Maryland in the first game of the NCAA Regionals and the 1-0 win over Charlotte in Fordham's first game of the Atlantic 10 Championships.

  • Fordham won the postgame coin flip and was designated the home team in tomorrow's match-up with Oklahoma in the winners bracket.

  • With the win against Maryland, Fordham is 2-0 against Atlantic Coast Conference teams this season. The Rams also defeated Georgia Tech on March 13 by the same score.

  • The 634 fans in attendance at the Robert E. Taylor Stadium was the largest crowd Fordham has played against this season.

  • Fordham will face the overall No. 14 seed, Oklahoma in Saturday's noon game. The meeting will be the first between the two schools.
