Keri Gallagher Named 2009-10 Women's Indoor MVP and Outdoor Co-MVP; Brigid Moriarty Named Outdoor Co-MVP

Bronx, N.Y. - As the 2009-10 season begins to wind down, the Fordham University Athletic Department held its 76th annual Block F Awards Dinner at the Villa Barone Manor on May 6th to honor Fordham University's student-athletes for their accomplishments during the academic year.

Among those honored was junior Kerri Gallagher, who was named the 2009-10 women's indoor track and field most valuable performer and 2010 outdoor track and field co-most valuable performer. Brigid Moriarty was also named 2010 outdoor track and field co-most valuable performer.

During the indoor season, Gallagher had an incredible year, winning the Atlantic 10 title in the 1000 meters and placing second in the mile run, earning First Team All-Conference honors on the 1000m and Second Team accolades in the mile. Her biggest highlight though came in mid-February, when she broke Lauren Gubicza's 17-year old school record in the 800 meters with a provisional NCAA qualifying time of 2:08.56.

Outdoors, Gallagher won the 800m at the Atlantic 10 Championships in an Atlantic 10 record time of 2:09.08, improving on her ECAC qualifying time, to earn First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors. She was also a member of the 4x400 relay at A-10s, placing fourth in a school record time of 3:50.64, and the 4x800 that also placed fourth.

Gallagher also won the 800m at the 2010 Metropolitan Outdoor Championships and placed fifth 800m at the 2010 Colonial Relays.

Academically, Gallagher was named Academic All-Atlantic 10 for indoor track and field in 2009-10.

Brigid Moriarty


Moriarty, who was also named the 2009 women's cross country MVP, won the 10,000 meter run at the 2010 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships in a time of 35:53.16 to earn First Team All-Conference honors. She also placed 12th in the College Women's Championship 3000m race at the 2010 Penn Relays and won the 10,000m at the 2010 Metropolitan Championships.

Most recently, Moriarty took fourth in the 10,000m at the 2010 ECAC Outdoor Championships at Princeton University.

Moriarty also received academic honors from the Atlantic 10, being named Academic All-Conference in both cross country and indoor track and field.
