As the 2009-10 season begins to wind down, the Fordham University Athletic Department held its 76th annual Block F Awards Dinner at the Villa Barone Manor on May 6th to honor Fordham University's student-athletes for their accomplishments during the academic year.
Among those honored was senior Katherine Burrell, who was named the 2009 volleyball most valuable player.
Burrell, a two-year captain who returned for a fifth year, led Fordham with 804 assists (8.12/set), seventh best in the Atlantic 10. She closed out her career with 3,758 assists, good for second place on the Fordham all-time list behind Lisa Bevill's 4,157 and her 9.97 assists/set is also second best all-time at Fordham.
Burrell was also third on the 2009 team with 23 aces and fifth with 218 digs.
