May 19, 2010

Bronx, N.Y. - As the 2009-10 season begins to wind down, the Fordham University Athletic Department held its 76th annual Block F Awards Dinner at the Villa Barone Manor on May 6th to honor Fordham University's student-athletes for their accomplishments during the academic year.

Among those honored was senior Clifton Hilario, who was named the 2009 men's cross country most valuable player.

Hilario, a team captain, capped his 2009 season by posting six top-20 finishes in eight races this year, which included a fourth place showing at the 2009 Metropolitan Championships. He also placed 18th at the IC4A Championships and 36th at the 2009 Atlantic 10 Cross Country championships, the first Fordham runner across the line. Hilario also won the 2009 St. John's Fall Festival and took third at the Leeber Invitational.

Hilario was named Academic All-Atlantic 10 for cross country for the second consecutive year.
