Bronx, N.Y. -
As the 2009-10 season begins to wind down, the Fordham University Athletic Department held its 76th annual Block F Awards Dinner at the Villa Barone Manor on May 6th to honor Fordham University's student-athletes for their accomplishments during the academic year.
Among those honored was senior Brigid Moriarty, who was named the 2009 women's cross country most valuable player.
Moriarty, a team captain graduated with a degree in English last May and is currently working on a master's degree in English, capped her 2009 season by posting five top-10 finishes, highlighted by a sixth place showing at the Atlantic 10 Championship, earning her All-Conference accolades, becoming only the second Fordham women's runner to earn Cross Country All-Atlantic 10 honors. She also finished eight at the ECAC Championship
It is the second straight team MVP award for Moriarty who was also named Academic All-Atlantic 10 for cross country in 2009.
