Fordham University Signs Four to Men's Basketball Letters of Intent for 2010-11

May 10, 2010

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University men's basketball head coach Tom Pecora announced the signing of Kervin Bristol (Port-au-Prince, Haiti/Broward Community College), Branden Frazier (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin), Lamount Samuell (Brooklyn, N.Y./Boys and Girls (Notre Dame Prep)) and Marvin Dominique (Miramar, Fla./Miramar (Winchendon Prep)) to National Letters of Intent for the 2010-11 season.

"We're excited about the contributions all four young men can make as we move forward," said Pecora. "We've addressed a number of our recruiting needs with the signing of these four student-athletes. They all have the ability to contribute immediately to the growth of the Fordham basketball program."

Bristol, a 6'10", 220-pound center who hails from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, played basketball the past two years at Broward Community College in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. As a sophomore last year, he averaged 12.4 ppg, fourth best on the squad , while leading the team in rebounding, with a 10.8 rpg average, and blocked shots with 139 (5.8 blocks/game). He is ranked #71 in the JucoJunction top 150.

Prior to his sophomore year at Broward, Bristol was selected to participate in the Mullins Top 110 JUCO (junior college) Basketball Select Camp at Oral Roberts University, the largest junior college recruiting event in the country.

Bristol received the invite to the Mullins Top 110 JUCO Basketball Select Camp after a successful freshman year at Broward where he averaged 10.1 ppg, 9.6 rpg and 3.3 blocks./game, helping the team to a Southern Conference Tournament championship.

Dominique, a 6-7, 200-pound wing forward, spent last winter at Winchendon Prep School in Massachusetts after averaging 9.2 points and 6.8 rebounds in the 2008-09 season for Miramar High School in Florida. He capped off his senior season at Miramar with 22 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks in a conference playoff loss to Ely. Dominique also had a 19-point, 20-rebound game during the regular season. He was ranked #48 in Florida's class of 2009 by HoopScoop.com.

Last year, Dominique was named to the 2009 SAS Holiday Classic All Tournament Team as Winchendon went 2-0 at the tournament with wins over Brimmer & May (76-61) and Marianapolis (73-55). He was the 18th ranked played in the state of Massachusetts by the New England Recruiting Report as Winchendon went 30-10 on the year, falling to Brewster Academy in the NEPSAC Championship game and then dropping a 63-62 decision to St. Thomas More in overtime in the quarterfinals of the National Prep Championship Tournament.

Frazier, a 6'2", 180-pound guard, played four years at Bishop Loughlin High School with Villanova-bound Jayvaughn Pinkston, a McDonald's All-American. He averaged 14.7 ppg, shooting 39% from behind the arc, 5.6 assists/game and 4.0 rpg for the Lions last winter, earning Honorable Mention All-City and First Team All-Brooklyn honors by the NY Daily News. He was also named Sixth Team All-State Class AA by the New York State Sportswriters Association. Loughlin finished the season 23-6 and tied Christ the King for first place in the CHSAA Brooklyn-Queens AA division during the regular season with an 11-2 mark in the division.

At the conclusion of the season, Frazier was selected to appear in the Jordan Brand Classic Regional Game in Madison Square Garden in April.

Not a stranger to the Rose Hill Gym, Frazier led Bishop Loughlin into the building last March as the Lions squared off with Christ the King for the CHSAA Intersectional championship game, a game won by Christ the King in triple overtime. He also scored a game-high 19 points to lead Loughlin to a 58-43 win over Lincoln High School, the four-time defending PSAL champions, at the New Heights Holiday Hoops Festival in the Rose Hill Gym in December.

Samuell, a 6'4", 175-pound guard, is a Brooklyn native who attended Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, in 2009-10 after graduating from Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn.

As a senior at Boys and Girls, Samuell played under head coach Ruth Lovelace, who became the first woman to lead a boys PSAL basketball program to a championship this past winter. In 2008-09, Samuell averaged over 11.0 ppg and earned game MVP honors, scoring a game-high 19 points, including a pair of clutch free throws with nine seconds left, in a 58-55 upset of Chris the King in the PSAL-CHSAA Challenge. He finished the season averaging 15.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg and 5.0 assists/game and was named Second Team All-Brooklyn by the NY Daily News and First Team All-Brooklyn by FiveBoroSports.com. In five playoff games in 2008-09, Samuell averaged 16.2 ppg and 7.8 assists/game, leading Boys and Girls to the PSAL Class AA semifinals.

Prior to his senior year at Boys and Girls, Samuell, who is right-handed but dribbles with his left hand, was named to the 2008 2K Sports New York State High School All-Star Team, a squad which included Lance Stephenson (Cincinnati). He also appeared in the Hoop Group Elite Camp's Top-20 All-Star game in the summer of 2009.
