Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham University men's tennis squad was blanked by Vassar College, 7-0, in a match on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts on Wednesday.

The Rams opened the match by dropping the doubles point, losing all three doubles matches. Dallas Harting and Austin Shoup fell at first doubles to Ben Guzick and Andrew Guzick, 8-4, while Alex DeRienzo and Eli Plangger lost at second doubles to Max Willner and Michael Mattelson, 8-3. The Brewers completed the doubles sweep as Greg Katz and Nick Jasso bested John Thornhill and Nick Kelly at third doubles, 8-3.

The Rams then lost all six singles matches. Ken Fukumoto played a marathon match with Jeremy Arthur at sixth singles, dropping the first set 6-2, before extending the second match with a tiebreaker, eventually falling, 7-5, in the tiebreaker to drop the set, 7-6.

In other singles matches, Harting lost to Mattelson at first singles (6-1, 6-1), Kevin Maloney fell to Ben Guzick at second singles (6-4, 6-2), Thornhill was upended by Andrew Guzick at the third spot (6-4, 6-2), Shoup lost to Willner at fourth singles (7-6, 6-2) and DeRienzo fell to Katz at fifth singles (6-4, 6-1).

The Fordham men's tennis team will next open play at the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championship on Friday, April 16th, at the Club 4 Life in Monroeville, Pa.
