STARKVILLE, Mass. -
With the latest edition of the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll released by officials on Tuesday, the Fordham softball team received 10 votes to remain the fifth team out of the Top 25. The Rams have consistently received votes since March 2.
The March 2 votes were the first in-season vote for Fordham in program history. The Rams are one of 13 teams that lie just outside the Top 25. With 10 votes they are the fifth highest, behind Oregon, North Carolina, BYU and Baylor.
Fordham is 26-8 overall, 4-2 in Atlantic 10 play, after a 3-2 week in home action where the Rams defeated St. John's and Rhode Island, but lost two to then No. 23 Massachusetts.
In addition to the USA Today/NFCA Top 25, Fordham also received four votes in the Ultimate College Softball Poll. The Rams are also receiving 10 votes for the second-straight week in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, up from three in the March 23 edition of the poll.
The Washington Huskies remain in the No. 1 spot for the ninth consecutive week with 28 votes. Washington recorded all 30 votes for five-straight weeks. Michigan received two votes for first place.
The USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll is voted on by NCAA Division I head coaches, one representing each conference. 2010 records are shown, first-place votes are in parentheses.
