Newport News, Va. -
Fordham University junior pitcher Brian Pendergast (Unionville, Conn./Farmington) was named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week today by the conference office. It is the first career honor for Pendergast.
The award marks the second straight week that a Fordham pitcher has received Pitcher of the Week honors, as junior Max Krakowiak won the accolade last week.
Pendergast notched his second victory of the season after allowing one run on two hits over seven innings in Fordham's 13-2 win over Rhode Island on April 2nd. He issued just one walk in the game and fanned three.
Pendergast currently leads the Atlantic 10 wth a .205 opponent batting average and is eighth in overall ERA at 4.23. In two conference starts, he is 12th in ERA at 2.84 and fourth in opponent batting average (.205).
Pendergast and the rest of the Fordham baseball team will next be in action on Wednesday, April 7th, when they play at New York Tech, beginning at 3:00 PM. Fordham will then travel to Olean, New York, to meet St. Bonaventure for a three-game Atlantic 10 series from April 9th-11th.
