Fordham softball pitcher Jen Mineau (Schaghaticoke, N.Y./Hoosic Valley Central) tallied her fourth Atlantic 10 Pitcher of The Week honor on April 26, as the awards were released by conference officials on Monday. Mineau shares the honor with St. Joseph's pitcher, Erin Gallagher. Mineau was also named both A-10 and ECAC Pitcher of the Week on April 19 and April 20.
Mineau had another 3-0 week, with all three victories shutouts. Mineau also recorded her second no-hitter of the season with a victory against Temple on Friday, April 23. The no-no at Temple also gave her 25 wins for the season, giving Mineau the title of Fordham's single-season win leader.
The no-hitter was the fourth of her career. With four, she holds the record for the most no-hitters.
Mineau tallied 38 strikeouts in her 3-0 week. Midweek, she went head-to-head against Hofstra's No. 1 pitcher Oliva Galati on April 20. Mineau got the better of Galati, striking her out twice out of Galati's three at bats, including a bases loaded two-out instance in the bottom of the sixth inning. Fordham defeated Hofstra by a score of 1-0, both teams are receiving votes in the top 25. Hofstra was No. 25 in Ultimate College Softball Poll's Top 25.
Currently, Mineau, a USA Softball Player of the Year Top 25 Finalist, has 396 season strikeouts, single-handedly breaking the Fordham team record for strikeouts in the season set by the 2007 Rams. As a team, Fordham has recorded 510 strikeouts, setting a new team record.
Mineau is 26-5 for the season, with an ERA of 0.70 in 209.2 innings pitched. The sophomore has won 12 complete game shutouts and has had a hand in 17 of the Rams' shut out victories overall. She has been named Pitcher of the Week three other times this season, Feb. 22, March 1 and April 19.
After being rained out at St. Joseph's on Sunday, where Mineau would have faced Gallagher, Fordham will play their final road game in nearby New Rochelle, N.Y., when the Rams play the Gaels of Iona on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Fordham is 14-0 as the visiting team this season.
