The Fordham University golf squad wrapped up play at the 2010 Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational at the Quail Valley Golf Course on Tuesday by placing fourth of eight teams. Individually, Devon O'Rourke was the top Fordham finisher, tying for eighth overall with a three-round score of 232.
Robert Morris won the two-day, three-round event with a score of 921, four strokes ahead of Fairfield (925) while Mount St. Mary's (926), Fordham (934), Rider (940), Long Island (945), Hampton (1034) and St. Francis (N.Y.) (1045) rounded out the eight-team field.
Robert Morris' Brock Pompeani won the individual competition, shooting a 227, followed by Rider's Eric Lafante who was one stroke behind at 228.
Leading the Rams was O'Rourke, who shot a 74 in the third round after carding an 80 and a 78 on the first day, for a three round score of 232, placing him in a tie for eighth. Jason Del Rosso also shot a 74 today after recording an 81 and a 76 in the first two rounds to finish with a score of 233, tying him for tenth. Also tying for tenth was Brody Nieporte, who registered a 76 on day two after shooting an 81 and a 76 on the first day. David Newman finished with a 239 total (80-81-78) to tie for 20th while Brendan Green carded a 241 (78-82-81) to tie for 23rd.
The Fordham golf squad will next be in action on April 24th and 25th as they compete at the URI Northeast Collegiate Invitational at the Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, R.I.
