Monroeville, Pa. - The Fordham University men's tennis team closed out play at the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championship by falling to Dayton, 4-2, at the Club 4 Life in Monroeville, Pa. With the loss, the Rams finish the championship in a tie for eleventh with La Salle.

The match opened with Dayton winning the doubles point, taking both of the completed matches. Fordham's Alex DeRienzo and Eli Plangger fell at second doubles to Matt Sherman and Robert Salcedo, 8-4, while John Thornhill and Nick Kelly were upended by Austin Wiegand and Robbie McCalum, 8-6.

In singles play, Fordham pick up points at the third and sixth positions. Thornhill defeated Salcedo at third singles in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-4, while Ken Fukumoto also won in straight sets, besting Dayton's Bryce Warnock, 6-2 and 6-4.

But Dayton won the match by winning at first, second and fourth singles. Harting fell at first singles to Sherman (6-4, 6-3) while Kevin Maloney dropped the second position to West (6-0, 6-0) and Soup was defeated by Wiegard at the fourth spot (6-4, 6-4).

The Rams will close out the 2010 season by hosting Lafayette College on Tuesday, April 20th, at 3:00 p.m. on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts.
