The Fordham rowing squad continued competition on Sunday in the prestigious Knecht Cup on the Cooper River where the varsity 8 won the petite final, upending Atlantic 10 rivals Massachusetts in the race.
After finishing just behind the Minutewomen in the semi-finals on Saturday, the Rams beat UMass to the finish line in the petite final on Sunday, crossing the line in a time of 6:45.07, over four seconds ahead of second-place UMass and also in front of UConn, George Mason and Villanova.
Other Fordham shells competing on day included the varsity 4 and the second varsity 4.
In the second varsity 4 final, the Rams took second in a time of 7:57.59, just under two seconds behind Buffalo but more than 16 seconds ahead of Loyola and also in front of UMass, Colgate and Fairfield.
The varsity 4 finished sixth in the third final, crossing the line in a time of 8:15.95, just getting edged out for fifth place at the line by Temple.
The Rams will next be in action on Saturday, April 17th, as they return to the Cooper River to compete in the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championships.
