Women's Tennis Shut Out by LIU, 7-0

Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham University women's tennis team hosted Long Island University on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts on Thursday, falling to the Blackbirds, 7-0.

The Rams opened the match dropping the doubles point as LIU took all three doubles matches. Bethany Boyle and Taylor Holt fell at first doubles to Selma Babic and Aleksandra Pavlovic, 8-4, while Sarah Tremaine and Jennifer Mullen were upended at second doubles by Taysha Blessington and H'Ann Johnson, 8-2, and Martina Featherston and Elizabeth Stall dropped third doubles to Stephanie Elie and Dara Lahens, 8-6.

The Rams lost all the singles matches in straight sets as Featherston fell to Babic (6-1, 6-0) at first singles, Boyle lost to Pavlovic (6-0, 6-1) at the second position, Tremaine was upended by Linn Sjogren (6-0, 6-2) at third singles, Mullen lost to Blessington at the fourth spot (6-0, 6-0), Holt fell to Elie at the fifth position (7-6 )7-3), 6-0) and Stall lost to Johnson at the sixth spot (6-3, 6-3).

There was also an exhibition match play with Fordham's Brittany Russell falling to Lahens, 8-0.

The Rams will next be in action on Wednesday, April 7th, as they travel into Queens to face Queens College at 3:30 p.m.
