Gallagher & Fitzgerald Reach 1000 Meter Finals at ECAC/IC4A Championship

Boston, Mass. - The Fordham indoor track & field teams began their final competition of the season on Saturday at the 2010 ECAC/IC4A Championships in Boston, Massachusetts. Day one saw two Rams reach the 1,000 meter finals on Sunday, while four season-best times were posted.

Leading the charge on day one were Kerri Gallagher and Kevin Fitzgerald in the 1,000 meters. Gallagher posted the top time in the women's 1,000 meters, qualifying for the final in 2:50.97. Fitzgerald almost matched that in the men's 1,000 meters, as he posted the second best qualifying time, a season-best mark of 2:26.67.

In addition to the Rams' duo in the 1,000 meters, Brigid Moriarty placed 16th in the 5,000 meter run in a season-best time of 17:14.28., while Brian Schmidt was 23rd overall in the 800 meters in 1:53.02.

In the relays, the men's 4x400 relay, consisting of Sean Atkinson, Nick Delligatti, Christopher Lyons, and Schmidt, placed 16th in a season-best time of 3:16.59, while the men's 4x800 relay of Tim Hutchinson, Bernard Moore, John Cosgrove, and Michael Rossi finished 12th in a season-best time of 7:39.86.

Competition at the ECAC/IC4A Championships will conclude on Sunday, with the men's 1,000 meter final at 1:40 PM and the women's 1,000 meter final at 2:25 PM.
