Newport News, Va. - Fordham freshman golfer Brody Nieporte (Atlanta, Ga./St. Pius) was named Atlantic 10 Golf Rookie of the Week for the week ending March 28th. It is Nieporte's first career weekly award.

He is the second Fordham freshman to earn the distinction this year, as teammate Jason Del Rosso has been named Rookie of the Week twice.

Nieporte was the Rams' top finisher this week at Monmouth's Hawk Spring Invitational, held at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood, New Jersey. He finished in a tie for 20th overall out of 60 competitors, shooting a two-round total of 156 (78-76) good for a +10 score. It marked his third top 20 finish of the season.

Nieporte and the rest of the Fordham golf team will next be in action on Saturday, April 3rd, when they compete at the Yale Invitational in New Haven, Connecticut.
