Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham women's tennis team earned three singles victories in the match against Saint Joseph's on Saturday, but couldn't get that fourth point, as the Hawks posted the 4-3 win over the Rams at the Hawthorn/Rooney Tennis Courts.

The match started with a split of the first two doubles matches. Fordham earned an 8-2 win at second doubles behind the duo of Bethany Boyle and Taylor Holt, but the Hawks registered 8-5 wins at both first and third doubles to earn the doubles' point.

In singles play, the Rams posted wins at second, third, and fifth singles. Fordham's Martina Featherston defeated Laura Matz, 6-4, 7-6 (6-2) at second singles, while Boyle posted a 6-2, 6-2, win over Sally Steiner at third singles. Holt then posted a straight sets win at fifth singles over Tara Walsh, 6-3, 6-4.

Fordham however was unable to get that fourth win, as the Rams lost the remaining matches in straight sets. The closest match was a 6-4, 6-4 loss by Sarah Tremaine at first singles at Maggie Mullaney.

The Fordham women's tennis team will next be in action on Sunday, March 28th, when they play at Wagner College, beginning at noon.
