Monmouth's Hawk Spring Invitational - Day 1 Results

Lakewood, N.J. - The Fordham golf team hit the links for the first time this spring on Saturday, as they opened play at the Hawk Spring Invitational, hosted by Monmouth University at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood, N.J. Through day one, Fordham currently stands in eighth out of 12 teams.

Fordham shot an opening day total of 316, 21 strokes back of Rider and Bucknell, who are tied for the tournament lead with a score of 295. Monmouth and Sacred Heart are tied for third at 301.

Individually, Rider's Eric Lafante leads the field with an opening round of 69, followed by Ryan Schneiter of Bucknell, who shot a round of 70 on Saturday.

Fordham's David Newman and Brody Nieporte both shot a round of 78, which is tied for 26th, to lead the Rams, while Jason Del Rosso is tied for 31st after a round of 79. Devon O'Rourke (T-39th - 81) and Charles Smith (T-51st - 84) rounded out the Fordham participants.

Final round of the Hawk Spring Invitational is set for Sunday, beginning at 9:00 AM.
