Jersey City, N.J. - The Fordham men's tennis team put up a strong fight against a very good St. Peter's squad on Tuesday at the Yanitelli Center in Jersey City, New Jersey, but came up just shy of the win, falling by a 4-3 score.

In doubles action, Fordham opened with a win at first doubles, as Dallas Harting and Austin Shoup defeated Lukas Pospisil and Alex Frakes, 9-8. St. Peter's however rallied for 8-2 wins at second and third doubles to earn the doubles point.

In singles play, St. Peter's captured first and second singles, while Fordham earned wins at third, fourth, and sixth singles. Fordham's John Thornhill defeated Andrew Musyoka, 7-6 (8-6), 6-4, at third singles, while Austin Shoup picked up the win over Chris Frakes at fourth singles (1-6, 6-2, Ret.). Ken Fukumoto rounded out Fordham's singles' victories at sixth singles over Luccas Coutinho with a come from behind win, 3-6, 6-4, 10-7.

The Rams however fell short of their team comeback, as St. Peter's Pospisil outlasted Fordham's Alex DeRienzo, 7-6 (4), 6-2, at fifth singles to close out the match in favor of St. Peter's.

The Fordham men's tennis team will be back in action on Wednesday, March 24th, when they host Fairfield at 4:00 PM on the Hawthorn/Rooney Tennis Courts.
