STARKVILLE, Miss. - With the latest edition of the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll released by officials on Tuesday, the Fordham softball team received 14 votes to be the third team out of the Top 25, tripling last week's tally of four votes.
The Rams have received votes in the poll since March 2, the first in-season vote for Fordham in program history.
The Rams are one of 16 teams that lie just outside the Top 25. With 14 votes they are the third highest, behind San Diego State with 26 points and Texas Tech with 18.
Fordham is 19-6 overall, after a 4-1 weekend at the James Madison University Dukes/Days Inn Invitational.
In addition to the USA Today/NFCA Top 25, Fordham also received 26 votes in the Ultimate College Softball Poll and are just two out of the Top 25. Texas Tech is ahead of the Rams with 28 votes. The Rams are also receiving three votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll.
The Washington Huskies remain in the No. 1 spot for the seventh consecutive week. This is the first week the Huskies did not receive all 30 first place votes. Washington recorded all 30 votes for five-straight weeks.
The USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll is voted on by NCAA Division I head coaches, one representing each conference. 2010 records are shown, first-place votes are in parentheses.
