The ESPN College Radio Tour has been organized in conjunction with the Fordham University Men's Basketball program and will feature a live on-site interview with Head Coach Jared Grasso. Additionally, 1050 ESPN will be joined by the Rams' band as well as the cheer squad for a truly unique "Pep Rally."
Immediately following the broadcast, Tierney will host a seminar open to all students to offer any broadcast career advice and answer questions.
"In this market, we tend to focus our resources on professional sports, and overlook the colleges," Tierney said. "This `road trip' will give our listeners a chance to hear the stories and learn more about local college hoops programs; as a former college athlete myself, I'm very happy to be involved."
"It also allows me to interact with the next wave of broadcasters, as we will meet with members of the school newspaper, radio station, and any Journalism majors at each school," he added. "I enjoy helping proactive interns at 1050 ESPN and young minds looking to crack an extremely challenging field. We have a responsibility to assist those who have a passion for this business, and help them succeed."
The ESPN radio broadcast is the beginning of a busy day for the Rams, who will host their baseball home opener against Manhattan at 3:00 PM and a men's basketball game at 7:00 PM.
