Game Notes
The Fordham University men's basketball Rams will continue their 2010 Atlantic 10 schedule as they host the Charlotte 49ers in an Atlantic 10 match-up in the Rose Hill Gym on Saturday afternoon, February 6th, at 2:00 p.m. Please note this is a time change from the original schedule.
The game will be broadcast live on WFUV (90.7 FM) and online at www.wfuv.org Live. The game will also be streamed live on the internet by clicking here and live stats are available via GameTracker. The game will also be broadcast live on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN).
Fordham enters the game with a 2-18 overall record, 0-8 in the Atlantic 10, after a 108-60 conference loss at Xavier on Sunday afternoon. Charlotte enters the contest with a 17-5 overall record, 7-1 in the A-10, after a 72-68 conference win over George Washington in Charlotte on Wednesday.
Fordham will be led into the game by freshman forward Chris Gaston, who leads the team and all Atlantic 10 freshmen in scoring with a 17.8 ppg average and in rebounding, averaging 10.6 rpg. He is ranked second in the conference in rebounding and fourth in scoring while in the national rankings he is 12th in rebounding. Gaston also has 12 double-doubles on the season, the second most for an Atlantic 10 player this year and tied for eighth in the NCAA.
Fordham senior guard Brenton Butler enters the Charlotte game with 982 career points, 18 shy of becoming the 33rd player in Fordham men's basketball history to surpass the 1,000-point mark. He is averaging 15.7 ppg and leads the Rams with 54 assists.
Saturday's game will be the seventh meeting between Fordham and Charlotte on the hardwood. The 49ers, who joined the Atlantic 10 in 2005-06, have won five of the previous six match-ups, including a 73-55 win in Charlotte last year on February 28th.
