Fordham University junior runner Kerri Gallagher (Belle Harbor, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) earned her first weekly award of the season today, as she was named Atlantic 10 Indoor Women's Track & Field Performer of the Week, for the week ending February 15th.
Gallagher broke the Fordham school record in the 800 meters on Friday by winning the event at the Valentine Invitational in an NCAA Provisional time of 2:08.56. The time broke the old mark of 2:10.76, set by former All-American Lauren Gubicza
Gallagher is the first Ram to post an NCAA indoor provisional since Kerstin Greene did so in the pentathlon in 2007. The time also qualified Gallagher for her third different event at the ECAC Championship at the end of the season
She also ran a leg of the distance medley relay that won their heat in an ECAC qualifying time of 12:08.10.
Gallagher and the rest of the Fordham track & field teams will next be in action on Friday, February 19th, when they compete at the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championship, held in Kingston, Rhode Island.
