Rayner Moquete Featured in Two Web Site Articles

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham freshman guard Rayner Moquete was featured on a few web sites this week, appearing in NYSportsday.com and LatinoSports.com.

Moquete, who has started the past two games, has appeared in ten games so for the Rams, averaging 1.7 ppg and 2.1 rpg while recording eleven assist and four steals.

A 6'1", 181-pound point guard who hails from the Dominican Republic, Moquete graduated from Our Savior New American School in Centereach, N.Y., last spring where he played for three years for head coach Rev. Ron Stelzer. As a senior in 2008-09, he averaged 15.0 ppg, 6.5 apg, 5.0 rpg and 2.0 steals/game, shooting over 40% from the three-point arc and 74% from the free throw stripe.

As a junior at Our Savior New American, Moquete, a two-year captain, averaged 11.0 ppg, 4.0 apg, 4.0 rpg and 2.0 steals/game and shot over 40% from behind the arc.

A member of the New York Elite AAU program, Moquete also played with the Upstate Basketball program in the Reebok Summer Championships in Las Vegas along with Big East players Brandon Triche (Syracuse) and Dane Miller (Rutgers). He also had interest from Holy Cross, Duquesne, Georgia, and Niagara, and Davidson.

Moquete, who hails from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, also has international experience, serving as the starting point guard and captain of the Dominican Republic Junior National team. He played in tournaments in Spain, Columbia, Puerto Rico and Argentina with the national team while also attending the Adidas Nations camp in San Paulo, Brazil.

The Rams will return to action on Saturday, February 6th, as they host the Charlotte 49ers in an Atlantic 10 contest in the Rose Hill Gym at 2:00 PM.
