Game Notes
Prior to the game, Fordham will honor the late Freddy "Freddy Sez" Schuman and former baseball coach Gil McDougald with a moment of silence. Schuman, who passed away in October, was a fixture at both Fordham and Manhattan basketball games with his trademark frying pan and motivational sayings. McDougald passed away last week.
The Rams enter the game with a 3-4 record after defeating Lehigh, 74-67, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on Saturday night, snapping a 21-game road losing streak. Manhattan enters the game with a 2-6 record after falling to Saint Peter's, 66-49, last Saturday.
Fordham will be guided into the game by first-year head coach Tom Pecora, who arrived at Rose Hill in March after nine successful seasons as the head coach at Hofstra where he averaged 20 wins during the past six years.
On the court, Fordham is led by sophomore Chris Gaston and senior Brenton Butler. Gaston has posted a double-double in six of the first seven games and is averaging 15.9 ppg and 13.6 rpg while Butler is averaging 15.3 ppg. Freshman guard Branden Frazier, a product of Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, is off to a good start, averaging 11.7 ppg.
Wednesday's game will be the 103rd meeting between the Rams and the Jaspers on the hardwood. Manhattan leads the all-time series, 53-49, and has won the past two matchups, including a 68-44 win in the Draddy Gymnasium last November.
Come out and support your Rams on Wednesday night!
