Fordham University sophomore swimmer Brienne Ryan (New Windsor, N.Y./Cornwall) and freshman swimmer Shintaro Noguchi (Tiburon, Calif./Redwood) both earned Atlantic 10 weekly honors this week, it was announced by the league office today. Ryan was named Women's Performer of the Week for the third time this season, while Noguchi recevied the Men's Rookie of the Week award for the third consecutive week.
Ryan helped lead the Rams to victories over Boston College (204-96) and Williams College (160.5-139.5), contributing four first-place finishes. The sophomore won both the 100-yard freestyle (52.27 seconds) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.97) events. She was also part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team (1:48.28) and the 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:34.42).
Noguchi picked up a first and second-place finish in Fordham's men's loss to Boston College (203-95) and win over Williams College (167-131). He claimed first in the 100-butterfly in a season-best time of 50.75 seconds, while grabbing second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.28). The freshman earned second place in the 200-yard medley relay (1:37.57) and was a member of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:10.01).
Ryan, Noguchi, and the rest of the Fordham swimming & diving teams are now off until January 21st and 22nd, when the women host C.W. Post on Friday, January 21st, while both squads will host La Salle University on Saturday, January 22nd.
