Four Fordham Track & Field Athletes Earn Atlantic 10 Weekly Awards

Newport News, Va. - Fordham University sophomore Sean Atkinson (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth Regional), senior Kerri Gallagher (Belle Harbor, N.Y./Bishop Kearney), and freshmen Ryan Polo (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) and Anisa Arsenault (Attleboro, Mass./Bishop Feehan) received Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field weekly honors today, for the week ending December 12th. Atkinson and Gallagher captured the Men's and Women's Performer of the Week awards, while Polo and Arsenault picked up the respective Men's and Women's Rookie of the Week honors.

Atkinson booked one of Fordham's six first-place finishes as the Rams hosted nine others squads at the annual Christmas Classic. The sophomore won the 500 meters with a time of 1:06.2.

Gallagher picked up a first and second-place finish for the Rams at the Christmas Classic. The senior crossed the finish line first in the field of 19 runners, completing the mile in 5:12.4. She also helped the 4x400 relay team pick up second place with a time of 4:04.9.

Polo finished second in the mile with a time of 4:24. The freshman also was a member of the Rams 4x400 relay "B" team, which place seventh.

Arsenault claimed first out of nine runners in the 3,000-meter run in her first action of the winter. The freshman recorded a season-best 10:27.7 time.

The quartet and the rest of the Fordham track & field teams are now off for Christmas Break until January 7th, when they compete at the Metropolitan Coaches Invitational, hosted at the New York Armory Track & Field Center.
