Newport News, Va. -
Fordham University freshman guard Abigail Corning (Wethersfield, Conn/Wethersfield) was selected as the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday.
It is Corning's first career Atlantic 10 weekly award, and the first award by a Ram player since Becky Peters received Rookie of the Week honors twice during the 2008-09 season.
Corning paced Fordham to back-to-back victories last week, including a 64-42 win over Bucknell and a 67-36 decision against Holy Cross, two of the largest margins of victory for Fordham in the past six seasons.

She scored a season-high 13 points against Bucknell on November 17th, following with nine points and three rebounds versus Holy Cross on November 20th.
On the year, Corning leads the Rams in shooting at .692 from the field, which includes 5-of-9 from long range (.556), while averaging 7.3 points per game.
Corning and the rest of the Rams will look to improve on a 3-1 start to the season on Tuesday, November 23rd, when the team travels to Teaneck, New Jersey to face the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights at 7:00 PM.
