Fordham's Christi Griffiths Named Atlantic 10 Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Newport News, Va. - For the second straight week, a Fordham volleyball player has earned an Atlantic 10 weekly award, as Fordham University's senior middle blocker Christi Griffiths (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) was selected as the Atlantic 10 Volleyball Co-Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, it was announced on Tuesday. Teammate Randi Ewing received the award last week.

It is the third time overall that Griffiths has earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, and the seventh Atlantic 10 weekly award of her career.

Griffiths had a solid week, hitting .410 with 20 kills, 11 digs, and seven blocks in two matches. On Friday, Griffiths posted her first double-double of the season versus Rhode Island with 10 kills and 10 digs to go with three blocks and two aces. Later in the weekend, Griffiths totaled four blocks, 10 kills and a .533 hitting percentage in a win over La Salle.

Griffiths currently leads the Rams in hitting percentage (.289), service aces (24), and total blocks (82).

Griffiths and the Fordham volleyball team (15-15, 5-6) will next be in action on Friday, November 5th, when they travel to George Washington for an important Atlantic 10 match, beginning at 7:00 PM.
